Recently, students elected a new Associated Student Body. Voting was held during the first weeks of March. An ASB president vote is held on March 26-27 according to the official website of ASB. As with every year, elections signal the passing of an old era and the beginning of a new.
San Diego High’s Associated Student Body (ASB) supports events connected with students and everything ASB is involved in. To be a good ASB is to be involved more and participate. A current ASB Sergeant at Arms, Nathan Williams, states, “I like things to get done, and I have to be more on the stricter side,” which demonstrates that the leadership should not be too nice to ASB members, which could lead to slacking off on important tasks at school. “I’ve been told that I’m intimidating,” but he also says, “I can also be friendly because that’s the main goal.” That shows how he keeps the balance between being nice and getting things done. On the other hand, a peer support ASB member named Diego Cruz states that “I feel excited to be part of ASB because they bring a lot of projects and they help with events that bring up this school spirit,” ASB members have to be emotionally prepared to bring up the already fallen school spirit. Besides, with the construction happening in the middle of campus, low school funds, getting people to participate, and others. These are some of the challenges that the new ASB will consider during the school year.
