On March 25, the SDHS Art program will host an art show to feature Cavers and their skills. The art will be displayed in the library as an open and ongoing experience for all. SDHS teachers are encouraged to take their classes to the library for students to see the talents of their peers.
Mr. Pray, who teaches Photography and IB Film, said that this was an opportunity “to show all the work students have made, since it’s not always shown around the school.” It was great, he added, “to have one big night and a week, so students can come during the school day with their teachers and see the work, and also come to the spring showcase night” (Wednesday, March 25, 5-7 p.m.).
Mr. Pray said the work wasn’t only an inspiration to other students. “It inspires me and other teachers too, and that’s what’s really great. The creative work that our students do is different and awesome every single year, really so it’s fun to see.”
Ms. Kinoshita, who teaches Graphic Design, said that the most exciting part of preparing for this year’s art show was “seeing students work on and progress over the year and years, that’s kinda nice.” She said, “I’m able to see the progress when students are first learning the program for graphic design, and then compared to what they’re making now is a big jump.”
Ms. Kinoshita would visitors to the art show to take away some inspiration. “Seeing student progress, seeing what students are creating.”
SDHS teachers and students in the Art program hope you can stop by and take a look at what is being created in the 400 building every day.
