On September 18, 2025, the San Diego High School (SDHS) School Governance Team (SGT) held its second meeting of the school year.
The SGT includes administrators, teachers, parents, community members, and students. They discuss issues like the student handbook and how to prioritize school funding for student success.
At this meeting, the team first reviewed the recent election results for the new student representatives: Jacob Nitzel (Junior), Cashel O’Connor (Senior), and Nathan Williams (Senior). These representatives will serve a one-year term lasting until September 2026.
Following the elections report, the SGT shifted focus to a report presented by Barbara Lockett, SDHS’s Restorative Justice Practices Coordinator. Lockett addressed the student attendance record for San Diego High since the beginning of the school year and how much it has improved on a district scale compared to the same period last year.
Continuing with her report, Lockett then discussed the Loss Of Privilege (LOP) list and revisited the ways students can be removed from it, including Makeup Mondays and Core Academy on Saturdays. She concluded by introducing the new 5-Star Management System implemented in classrooms, highlighting how effective it has been at tracking student pass usage, with over 22 thousand passes issued in just a month and a half.
